Parenting in a Pandemic

If interested in taking part six week series with a discussion afterwards, please email childrenandyouth@faithunited.ca

Parenting in a Pandemic Docuseries (six weeks)
Parenting in 2020 is a challenge on a good day. Parenting during the COVID-19 pandemic has presented a set of challenges no one could have imagined.
In this web-based documentary series, Tumbuh.org interviews parents about the highs, lows, and hard but hopeful lessons they have learned caring for their children and balancing a “new normal” throughout this pandemic.
From trying to work from home and entertaining children who love to be outdoors to life as a frontliner with kids at home and navigating pre-natal visits without a physical partner present, this webinar series offers solidarity and support to those who are “waking up and making it up” every morning for the sake of their children.

Joyful Noise

12:00 am - 12:00 am
Joyful Noise is Faith United’s weekly children’s program for ages 3/JK to Grade 5. This year we will be using the Whirl curriculum. All materials will be posted ahead of time on Google Classrooms. All activities can be completed at a child’s own pace. Children will study one Bible story each week that generally coincides with the sermon for that day. Through crafts, activities, dramatic play and movies, we will go deeper into each story.

Registration is required: http://faithunited.ca/…/Faith-United-Children-and-Youth…

If you have any questions, please email Stacey, Child, Youth, and Young Family Leader at childrenandyouth@faithunited.ca.

Children and youth are encouraged to decorate your boxes! Packages are being collected on December 22nd. We are asking that you drop them off at Faith United Church, on that day, or let us know if you require it to be picked up.

The Porch Online

10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Scripture Reading:

Solomon’s Porch was the place in the Temple where religious teachers would come and share their interpretations of scripture and people would debate and contend with them.

This weekly gathering looks at the upcoming Sunday’s readings and will give participants a chance to ask questions and learn more background about the texts and get thinking about what they might hear the following Sunday.

Participation is not limited to those who’ve done The Porch before, but will require you to access through Zoom. You need at least a computer, or a tablet (iPad, etc), or a smart phone. You do not need to have a webcam/camera to participate – but it’s way better if you do because seeing one another really helps deepen communication.

Please email office@faithunited.ca to receive the Zoom login info.

Outside Mitten, Hat, and Scarf Drop-Off

9:30 am - 12:00 pm
The Christmas tree will be set up in the Sanctuary at our church and will be decorated with mittens, scarves, gloves, toques – sizes for children. Items that are placed on the tree will be taken to local Elementary schools in Durham where the teachers appreciate having items on hand for when children lose theirs, or simply do not have them.

Let us decorate this tree generously to help those less fortunate and to spread blessings of Christmas during the cold winter days.

*Please note, this is a drop-off outside only**
